This week long opportunity is for Juniors only. You learn leadership and problem solving skills as you study local and state government, and create a mythical state. One boy and one girl from Cy Creek High School will be selected to attend. Boys state will be held at the University of Texas in Austin, June 7-12, 2020. Girls state will be held at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin from June 14-20, 2020. Interested students will need to pick up an application in the Counselor's suite (1040). Application deadline is February 14, 2020. Please see Ms. McMullin or Ms. Leggio in the Counselor's suite.
Presented by Houston Hispanic Forum, this free one day event includes workshops and exhibits covering a wide variety of careers. Transporation is provided and Assistant Principal approval is required. To register, click here (pending approval)
This free workshop presented by OmniLYF will feature life coaches and financial advisers. You will learn about the plethora of careers available to you and how to narrow those careers to the right one for you. The event takes place November 6, 2019 at the Robert R. Shaw Center in Katy. "Participants are challenged during each monthly session to examine their own leadership actions and aspirations and to learn first-hand the leadership stories and practices of key decision makers within the Region. The program begins in October with an orientation session followed by a leadership skills retreat and continues with monthly sessions through April. Curriculum is based on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership in The Student Leadership Challenge by James Kouzes and Barry Posner.The program also provides students with an opportunity to gain an appreciation for giving back through the completion of a community service project."
